Go deerstalking and be close at nature, in the true sense of the word. There are two hunting areas in the Lungau, which we offer You during your holidays to go hinting. Here you find – depending on season – black-, and capercaillie cock, roe deer, chamois, red deer, European mouflon and groundhog.
Good Fishing! – Fishing in the mountains or at the pond
A fishing expedition is a gorgeous relaxing experience in the idyllic Lungauer mountains. Breath the clear Lungauer air while You are fishing at a glistening pond or just watch the burbling stream. This calmly, reflective moments while waiting for a fish to bite belong to the most beautiful moments you can experience in the Lungau. Many different fish species are domestic here and surely sweeten your fishing expedition.
Tennis
Serve-volley and return
In St. Michael in the Lungau You can find several manicured playgrounds. In Tamsweg at the terrain of the “BadeInsel” there are tennis playgrounds too. If Your motivation is spoiled by raining, You can go to an indoor tennis center, either the tenniscenter Sport Friedrich or the tennis center in Mariapfarr.
Rafting
Paddling on the Mur
Austrias second biggest and fourth longest river arises in the Lungau – the “Mur”. This offers you an experience of a special form. At the rafting You cruise along the Mur downstream in a rubber dinghy and You control the adventurely river bends and rapadis together with other adrenaline junkies in an special adventure. Discover the harmonic and exciting combination of wild water and soft rocks. Educated guides lead You through gorges, valleys and waterfalls.

Bathing + Swimming
Dabbling, bathing and swimming
Beneath the numerous untouched mountain lakes in the Salzburger Lungau you can find several open-air baths, an indoor swimming pool and several bathing ponds and bathing lakes. The open-air baths in proximity are located in Mariapfarr, Mauterndorf, St. Michael and Tamsweg. The indoor swimming pool in Tamsweg is a part of the “BadeInsel”, an water park with open-air baths and indoor swimming pool, sauna and many more. If you want to get wet in untouched environment, You can do this in the holiday area “Longa” or at one of the highest located bathing lakes in austria – The lake “Preber”. It doesn’t matter if You want to swim or just bath, You will get Your money’s worth.

Climbing + Bouldering
The wall – the challenge
For all friends of climbing the Lungau offers a wide range of climbing rocks, climbing walls and climbing gyms. You can go climbing or bouldering in the middle of nature in the outdoorparc Mariapfarr. In Zederhaus You can climb in untouched nature. A little more away (ca. 18 km) the lake “Lanschitz” offers a gorgeous backdrop for climbing or bouldering.
Volleyball
Smashing, bumping or setting
Particularly favoured in the summer – volleyball. This is the reason why You can find several beach volleyball playgrounds in the Lungau. Especially advised, because of the beautiful nature environment are the beach volleyball playgrounds in St. Andrä (ca. 5 minutes by car) and in St. Michael (ca. 10 minutes by car away). The beach volleyball playground in Unternberg is really favoured too, because of it’s location beneath the bathing pond at the “Gfrererstadl”.
Golf-minigolf-golf course
Drive off, putt and hole in one
In the middle of dreamly landscape the Golfclub Lungau is located. Here You will find the right atmosphere as a beginner or an advanced.Here you can find a manicured 18-hole golf course, a 9-hole-3-par golf course, a big training course, a golf restaurant and a sun terrace.

Who wants it a little bit more managable, can play minigolf too. Here we offer some playgrounds which you can see below.

“Preber-Schießen”
“Preber-Schießen”
The tradition of the reflexion-shooting at the lake “Preber” exists since 1832. It’s about a challenge, in which participants from all around the world try to shoot a target from 120m away. The difference to other target shooting challenges is, that You don’t aim and shoot directly at the target, but at the reflection in the water. Nevertheless, the angle of attack of the projectile leads to hit the target. This physical reason is unique. For this reason, “Preber.Schießen” is just possible at the lake “Preber” and the lake “Schattensee” which is a few kilometers away.
Prangstangen
Prangstangen – Pageantry and beauty
The “Prangstangen” from Zederhaus and Muhr belong to the most important customs of the Salzburger Lungau. The wooden poles, which are over 8 meter long and weight ca. 80 kg are decorated with flowers and are carried through the township during a festive and religious procession. The gathering of the flowers and the binding of them starts months before. These showpieces are carried in the course of a memorial about the plague of locusts. These event is celebrated every year in june on the birthday of John the Baptist, who is the patron saint of the church in Zederhaus.
